From The League Commissioner:
I am pleased to report that during the round robin games at
the National Championship Tournament and the National Best of
the Rest Showcase the
WSHL
teams had a win/loss record of 9-1-2; almost a clean sweep
during.
Both Conference Champions, the
El Paso Rhinos
and the
Idaho Jr. Steelheads
finished number 1 in their flights going 2-01 by defeating some
excellent hockey teams. Both
WSHL
teams kept getting better each game, and both teams completed
their round robin sweep by defeating their opponent by a wide
margin.
Idaho soundly
defeated the 2010 National Champion St. Louis Jr. Blues, and
El Paso
took it to the Chicago Hitman. Both of our teams advance to
the Semi Final round today of the
National Championship Tournament.
Unfortunately, they will play each other in the semi-final bame,
but on the positive side, we will definitely have a team in the
Championship Game. It will be a tough day sitting in the stands
watching two great teams decide who will represent the
WSHL
in the final game. Congrats to both teams for a terrific
showing of their competitive skill and class both on and off the
ice.
Our two
Best of the Rest Teams
proved a point at the National Tournament. Not only do we have
two of the top four teams competing for the
National Championship
Game, but we had the top two teams in the
BOR
tournament. Our Veteran Age Out team swept their flight going
3-0-0 by defeating their third opponent in the third game in
overtime. Our Returning Players team went 2-1-0, narrowly
loosing the second game but coming back in the third game hard
and fast spanking their opponent.
All four teams of the
WSHL
showed terrific class on and off the ice. The coaches and
managers have all done a great job in preparing the teams.
The
BOR
teams went into Minnesota early and were hosted at St. Mary's
University with practice ice, and college screening and
informational seminars. We were able to practice 3 times prior
to our first game which had a huge impact on our results. In
the Thursday
WSHL
scrimmage game Age Outs vs. Returning Playes, the game went to a
shoot out with the Age Outs taking the bragging rights. We knew
we had two very
good teams at that point. I would like to thank the coaches
and managers that traveled with the teams:
Lastly, a member of the staff that we couldn't have done
without, we were fortunate that equipment manager Carl Poole
(Boulder Bison) met us in Minneapolis and supervised the teams
locker rooms and equipment for the week.
This has likely been the best 3 days in
WSHL
History and more to come.
Cordially,
Ron
